Application

Students should be certain that the institutions listed on the application will be suitable for their academic program. The selection committee will assume that students have fully researched the universities selected by the applicant for program and course compatibility.

Students should review  eligibility requirements before applying. 

Completed applications must be submitted to the IO. Applicants will receive a confirmation of submission message. Only one application per student will be accepted. Please be certain before you submit your application.

Supporting Documentation

Supporting documents outlined below must be submitted to the IO through the online application by the published deadlines to ensure a complete application. Students should include their name, email adress and phone number on all supporting documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

    1. Statement of Interest (Motivation Letter)

All students are required to submit a 500-word maximum statement of interest essay as part of the application. We ask that you provide a well-researched answer to the following two questions, focusing on your top choice of host university:

  • Why do you want to go on exchange?
  • How did you determine which university partner fit both your personal and academic goals?

    2. CV (Résumé)

Résumés should be a maximum of two pages. The selection committee is interested not only in work history, but in the experiences which show the student to be someone who is well-rounded, mature, and capable of taking on a new challenge. Information about volunteer positions, languages, hobbies, community involvement, scholarships, and any previous international experiences should also be included. Include extracurricular/volunteer activities at SEBS's.

Selection Process

The criteria for selection is based on a combination of grades and academic preparation, extra-curricular activities and volunteer work, as well as personal suitability as assessed from the essay.

If there are more qualified applicants than there are places available, applications will typically be ranked using the following criteria:

  • Correctly filled application form and properly delivered application documentation,
  • Academic success, motivation letter and CV evaluation,
  • English language knowledge level,
  • Advantage would be given to applicants who have not done exchange programme in the past.

Preparing to Go

If your application to participate in the Exchange Program is successful, the IO will send you a Nomination letter.

Please read the steps below which explain what you need to do to progress your application.

  1. Confirm Acceptance – Submit all required documents to the IO to confirm that you wish to accept the nomination. You must do this by the deadline specified. The exchange program is extremely popular and consequently failure to do so will result in your spot being offered to the next qualified candidate.
  2. Apply to the Host University - The IO will nominate you to your host university. Applications may be made online or on paper depending on the institution. The specific requirements of the exchange university will be made clear to students by either the IO and/or the exchange partner directly. 

Most applications have additional requirements which may include the following:

  • Nomination Letter,
  • Learning Agreement,
  • Official Transcript of Records,
  • Statement of study,
  • Photo,
  • Passport scan,
  • Health certificate,
  • Language proficiency proof (TOEFL or similar),
  • Financial disclosure (Grant Agreement).

Partner institutions may have different requirements and documents. It is your responsibility to obtain these documents and to send them to the partner. 

When completing your application, please be sure to:

  • read the application thoroughly and compile all required supporting documentation,
  • complete the application and ensure that you attach/upload all requested supporting documentation,
  • keep copies of your application and all documents for future reference.
