International conference on official statistics ICOS 2017

First International conference on official statistics ICOS 2017 has been held at 30th and 31st March 2017 at School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo: challenges, opportunities and directions of future development of statistics, which gathered over 200 guest from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia,  Serbia, Slovenia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Great Britain, Sweden, Poland, Luxembourg and United States of America.

Conference was opened by dean of School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo prof. dr. Kemal Kozarić and director of Federal Institute for Statistics dr. Emir Kremić, followed by speech of ambassador of United States of America, H.E. Maureen Cormack. High representative in B&H, dr. Valentin Inzko has also graced the opening of conference with his presence.

Dr. Nicholas Bingham, one of the world’s leading theorists of probability and professor at prestige Imperial College and London School of Economics, in his opening speech said: “I am theorist of probability. Probability and statistics are two sides of the same medal; mathematic of randomness and uncertainty.”

Conference was organized by Federal Institute for Statistics and School of Economics and Business, with the support of USAID, World Bank, IMF, state offices for statistics of Denmark, Italy, EUROSTAT, as well as Agency for statistics in B&H and Republic institute for statistics of Republic of Srpska.
