CIEBF at the Sarajevo Halal Fair 2018

Centre for Islamic Economics Banking and Finance attended the Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) 2018.

The Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) 2018, the first-ever halal fair in Sarajevo hosted around 100 exhibitors from 36 countries.

Representatives of the Centre for Islamic Economics Banking and Finance during the 3-day event have presented master study programmes of the School of Economics and Business Sarajevo and special scholarships for new cohort of the Islamic Banking master programme.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The fair enabled the participants from the Balkan countries - including Serbia, Slovenia and Albania - as well as from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and the EU countries to introduce halal products.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 90 firms have halal food certificates, while more than 130 producers and over 7,000 products have halal food certificates in the region, according to Damir Alihodzic, the head of Agency for Halal Quality Certification.

During the Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) 2018, meetings were held with regional producers of halal products and providers of halal services from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia, Macedonia and Albania with large buyers and distributors from the European Union, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Indonesia and many other markets.

Organizers of the Sarajevo Halal Fair (SHF) 2018 especially emphasized that the market for halal products and services is one of the fastest growing in the world, which can be illustrated by the fact that consumption of halal foods and drinks is almost twice as high as global growth according to State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2017-2018. According to the same report, growth trends have also been recorded in the area of halal tourism, pharmaceuticals, cosmetic products, Islamic finance.
