Prof. Dr. Tarik Zaimović is a tenured professor at the School of Economics and Business, University of Sarajevo. He is a member of the Department of Management and Information Technologies, where he teaches courses such as Management Information Systems, Business Information Systems, Managing IT Projects, Doing Business in a Networked Economy, and several elective subjects. Professor Zaimović has authored and co-authored numerous research studies, ten books, and several key strategic documents for government institutions.
From April 2019 to October 2024, Professor Zaimović served as Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs at the University of Sarajevo. As of October 2024, he holds the position of Rector of the University.
With over 25 years of experience in the design and delivery of diverse educational programs—including undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and tailored professional training – Professor Zaimović possesses indeepth expertise in advanced teaching methodologies. His work includes the development of tools and approaches for both in-person and remote learning, including internet-based training, interactive multimedia content, and distance learning. As Director of the Business Academy, he has gained extensive experience in lifelong learning initiatives and customized training programs for public and private sector partners.
A certified PRINCE2 Practitioner, Professor Zaimović has more than two decades of experience in the design and management of both local and international projects. He has worked on numerous UN, European Commission (EC), and World Bank (WB) funded initiatives, particularly in the fields of public administration reform and e-Government. His project management expertise spans methodologies, standards, and execution frameworks used by international organizations. He is highly experienced in managing complex, concurrent projects, including Agile-led initiatives, and has led high-performance teams in dynamic, multicultural environments.
His work with various levels of government has resulted in extensive experience in public sector development, including strategic planning, business process reengineering, information systems implementation, and capacity-building. He has also contributed to policy development and government strategy in the areas of information society, ICT, and administrative reform. Notably, he is a co-author of the national State Information Society Development Strategy and regional frameworks such as eAgenda and eAgenda Plus.
With more than 25 years in organizational management, Professor Zaimović has substantial expertise in institutional development, organizational restructuring, operations and financial management, and strategic IT planning. He has led initiatives in the design and implementation of information systems at both the state and corporate levels, including the development of eBusiness solutions, quality assurance, system testing, rollout, and maintenance strategies.
