AMERICAN ACCREDITATION AGENCY AACSB HAS GRANTED THE INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION FOR QUALITY TO SEBS FOR THE SECOND TIME FOR A MAXIMUM PERIOD OF FIVE YEARS
In February 2021, School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo (SEBS) was officially granted institutional AACSB re-accreditation by the American accreditation agency The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (www.aacsb.edu), the leading institution for the enhancement of quality in education at the global level. SEBS is the first and the only AACSB accredited higher education institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina. With this acknowledgement, SEBS has maintained its position inside the community of 5% of higher education institutions with the highest quality standards in the area of economics and business in the whole world.
SEBS was first granted AACSB accreditation in 2015, and its re-accreditation was preceeded by a five-year enhancement process of key areas – education and learning, research as well as program/curriculum quality.
In the period from 1st to 3rd November, a three-member AACSB team formed of deans of renown schools across the world held final online sessions in the final phase of re-accreditation process with SEBS employees, students and representatives of the business community. The aim of these sessions was to ensure that all target groups were included in the processes of fulfilment of a number of standards regarding key areas of action of the higher education institution: strategic management of the institution and innovations, curriculum/defining study goals, and standards that apply to all the participants in the processes of the institution.
AACSB accreditation demands a continuous dedication to the achievement of the highest quality standards as well as a constant enhancement of the programs offered by the higher education institution. Once accredited, the institution goes through a re-accreditation process every five years in order to ensure a continuous dedication to the demanding AACSB quality standards. AACSB standards are known to be the most rigourous when it comes to the quality level of the whole institution.
Acquiring AACSB accreditation is considered to be the highest international achievement for higher education institutions that offer programs in business, economics and accounting. This accreditation is especially important because it enables School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo to cooperate with prestigious institutions outside Bosnia and Herzegovina and thus creates a path of international quality and enhancement according to the world standards.
In Southeastern Europe, AACSB accreditation is obtained only by five schools one of which is ours, and there is one school in Austria and one in Italy that have attained it in the wider region. All our current and former students, employees and partners can be proud of the fact that we belong to the group of elite and world-renowned schools of economics.
