BUILDING FORENSIC ACCOUNTING CAPACITY IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA FUNDED BY THE U.S. EMBASSY IN B&H


The Department of State (USA), Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) provided a Grant to School of Economics and Business in Sarajevo (SEBS) for its proposal entitled Building Forensic Accounting Capacity in Bosnia and Herzegovina

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this award is to support School of Economics and Business (SEBS) in order to develop a sustainable forensic accounting education programs, including both academic programmes and professional certification programs. Currently, there is no organized educational system in the field of forensic accounting in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the lack of trained forensic accountants hampers government and private sector efforts to detect and combat fraud, thereby undercutting efforts to support the rule of law.

This project will address and close this gap and educate well equipped and knowledgeable forensic accountants able to support fight against criminal activities. 

PROJECT GOAL

The overall project’s goal is to build a sustainable forensic accounting education programs, including academic programmes and professional education certification process, that teaches qualified accountants – especially accountants working in government and law enforcement, using existing international standards and best practices and certifies them as forensic accountants. 

Forensic accountants will be qualified cadre in accordance with international standards that will be equipped to fight fraud and corruption, combat domestic and transnational organized crime, support prosecutors, judges, and defence attorneys in their work and increase citizens’ trust in the justice system.
